Instructed on a matter where X was admitted to hospital for a laparoscopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy. During surgery X suffered a bowel perforation that was not identified for approximately 24 hours and required emergency laparotomy to repair. X suffered from ongoing bowel complications and fistulas and required continued follow-up. The claim settled for damages in excess of £100,000.
Instructed on a matter where X suffered a delay in diagnosis of colorectal cancer due to a failure by his GP to refer him for investigation given his presenting symptoms. As a result of the delay X required radical resection and intensive chemotherapy. The matter settled for £85,000 at the behest of X, who was concerned about his long-term survival prospects.
Instructed on a matter where X attended Hospital to undergo ACL reconstruction surgery. The initial surgery failed, and X required 3 further revision surgeries to successfully reconstruct the ACL. X suffered from ongoing swelling and a restriction in previously enjoyed sporting activities. The matter settled for £68,000.
Instructed on a matter where X attended Hospital to undergo an elective cholecystectomy. During procedure X suffered damage to the hepatic artery, common bile duct and portal vein. X required emergency repair surgery and spent a considerable amount of time in hospital recovering. X has been unable to return to work and continues rehabilitation. The Defendant admitted fault and Michael continues to investigate to achieve settlement on the best terms for X.
